By comparison, the VW Taos offers up to 65.9 cubic feet of cargo space. In their two-row configurations, the blend of seating and cargo possibilities are different as well; the Taos rear seat folds with a 60/40 split, while you can fold down the Tiguan second row in three different segments with a 40/20/40 split.

• Upholstery materials — The Taos features CloudTex and cloth, CloudTex, or leather, while the Tiguan offers stain-resistant cloth, leatherette, or V-Tex leatherette seat upholstery. The Tiguan is available with a leather-wrapped steering wheel and the Taos with a leatherette-wrapped steering wheel.

• Comfort options — While both models offer heated front seats for winter-ready driving, the Taos uniquely offers ventilated front seats. The Taos also offers a heated steering wheel.
